The Castelli Alpha RoS 2 jacket sets a new standard in winter cycling comfort. The Alpha Ultimate Insulated takes it even higher with more flexible fabrics and Polartec Alpha insulation that provides extra warmth without bulk. The jacket is lighter and more comfortable, with similar warmth and breathability. In fact, it's almost 30% lighter and has more stretch to make you feel even more comfortable, thanks to new materials. The fully waterproof and highly breathable Polartec® NeoShell® outer fabric has a high level of stretch in four directions. This layer protects against wind and rain while allowing perspiration to escape. Active Polartec® Alpha® insulation, which provides incredible warmth for its weight while aiding in better breathability.
However, the fabrics alone do not make the jacket. The front has one zipper for the insulation layer and a separate zipper for the outer membrane layer, so you can open the outside for ventilation while leaving the insulation layer closed. This allows for better overall ventilation control during climbs or increased exertion. This makes you drier when you close everything up for the descent, so you stay nice and warm.
